I have at last tried on my corset. It does fit and is very comfortable. However, though I have a 1.5 to 2 inch gap at the waist at the back, the lacing is edge-to-edge at the top. I now have to remove a few bones on both sides (the side back rather than the back itself) so that there is a more even gap. |

There are a few things to do on this corset before its completed: |
1. |
Silk Binding to be stitched on the Waist Tabs (pinned at present) and the neckline and straps. |
2. |
The Left Hand Side Back piece needs to have the neckline altered to complete the "V" shape. |
3. |
Straps need to be slightly lengthened before binding. |
4. |
All eyelets (front and back and for the straps) need to be worked with button hole stitch. |
As I intend for this corset to be seen (sometimes) publicly at times in Kentwell when I "dress in the bedchamber", I decided to ensure that the laces were more authentic than two pairs of "Doc Marten" boot laces!!! I have just ordered two 2 metre lengths of hand made finger braid laces from Gina B of Soper Lane. I'm looking forward to them being delivered. |
The next update should be of the completed corset! |
